ID-227 Oil on Water Monitoring System for Marine Applications

The Leakwise ID-227 sensor detects the presence of oil and monitors the buildup of thin layers of hydrocarbons on water.

It is used for early detection of oil leaks and spills in offshore applications such as intake to desalination or drinking water plants, oil taker loading buoys and piers, rivers, open channels at the discharge of refineries and power plants and large retention ponds.

The ID-227 sensor has a high frequency transmitter that is maintained at the air/water interface and transmits a signal to the grounding antenna located below the water surface. The ID-227 can detect a 0.3 mm (0.01 inch) oil layer and continues to measure layer growth up to 20 mm (1 inch).

The sensor connects to the controller via a floating cable and uses mooring ropes to secure it in place. The wave rider houses the ID-227 and is designed to operate with working wave height of 2 M (6.6 feet) and currents up to 1.5 knots. The sensor requires a minimum water depth of 30 cm (12 inch).
